Hi, I’m Julie. I love to read! I’ve used mobility aids & adapted everything to sitting for 30 years now. I want to read about a plucky, smart heroine who uses a wheelchair. I want to read a story where people who use wheelchairs are strong, have healthy relationships, have fun and laugh. I can’t find heartwarming stories about people using wheelchairs. So, I created Poppy & Kat novellas.
Poppy uses a rigid frame wheelchair after a spinal cord injury. Her cousin and business partner, Kat, uses a motorized scooter for multiple sclerosis and is Deaf. Kat drives their detective mobility van and Poppy visits hospitals with her dog Waffles. Poppy and Kat are genealogy detectives specializing in Virginia history, DNA and helping descendants of enslaved individuals discover the names of their ancestors.
